Pay: £11.21 per hour including holiday pay

Reed – Further Education are seeking Visual Impairment Learning Support Assistant to work on a 1-2-1 basis within a Further Education College who is visually impaired from September 2023.

What’s the day-to-day responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant?

  • Provide one-to-one support for a student with Visual Impairment
  • You will be supporting the child within their lessons to ensure their needs are fully met and they are accessing their full education, which will include getting around the school, supporting during break times and taking 1:1 intervention sessions to support and challenge the pupil
  • Work with the class Lecturer to adapt learning materials to meet the needs of the student
  • You will be expected to record, monitor and feedback on the individual’s progress, any issues or support needed and liaise consistently with the SEND team.
  • Your role may consist of supporting other students with additional needs and you may be required to take small intervention groups to support different abilities on a more focused and tailored level.

What are the required skills and qualifications needed for this role?

  • Experience working with young adults with Special Educational Needs, specifically with Visual Impairment
  • Trained and ideally qualified in Braille
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • English & maths at level 2 or equivalent
  • DBS Certificate registered to the update service or willingness to obtain one
