Job Advert: Teaching Assistant for SEN Child in Reception Class

We are looking for a dedicated and caring Teaching Assistant to work with a SEN child in our Reception class at a moderately sized primary school in North Chesterfield. The successful candidate will work within our IR unit to support a child with moderate learning difficulties, as well as some physical needs which require additional support.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with SEN, and will be passionate about supporting the learning and development of our students. We welcome applications from candidates who have a moving and handling qualification or similar, as this would be a benefit for this position.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for:

• Providing support to the child with SEN in class and during other activities
• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to plan and deliver personalised support and interventions
• Creating a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students
• Helping the child with personal care needs when required
• Providing support with mobility and physical needs, including moving and handling

The successful candidate will have:

• Experience working with children with SEN, particularly those with moderate learning difficulties
• A compassionate and patient approach to supporting children with additional needs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
• A willingness to learn and develop new skills, including training in moving and handling if required
• The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
