SEN Teaching Assistant ASD (Secondary) Location: GatesheadStart Date: September 2023 Salary: £78 – £95 per dayTime: 8.30 am- 3.30 pm Are you passionate about helping children who have Special Needs? If you are, then we would love to hear from you!GSL Education is currently seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to work with ASD students at a specialist SEN school in Gateshead. The school is dedicated to providing high-quality education and support for children with special educational needs, including those with Autism and SEMH. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of these children, helping them to reach their full potential and achieve their goals. Responsibilities: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support the social and emotional needs of children and young people.
• Encourage pupil participation in whole-School life, including extra-curricular activities.
• Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions, following lesson outcomes planned by the class teacher.

• Help learners understand lessons and educational activity delivered by the teacher.?
• Assist individual pupils or across a class with other support assistants.
• Ensure a good relationship with parents and colleagues to create a protective environment so that children feel safe.

Requirements: To be considered for this role, you must:

• Have a passion for learning and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Have a solid understanding of SEN, mainly Autism and SEMH.
• Hold a qualification in health and social care, which is preferable.
• Be empathetic with good listening skills and have good problem-solving abilities.
• Be willing to assist with basic healthcare practices.

The ideal candidate will:

• Be available for work Monday to Friday
• ECT’s are welcome to apply
• Be proactive, energetic, kind and caring
• An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to go through the process with us)
