The SEN school is based in Cardiff are working closely with Teaching Personnel in recruiting a positive and proactive Teaching Assistant to join their team.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be providing valuable support to pupils with a variety of additional needs including Autism, ADHD, Challenging Behaviour and Complex Needs.

You may have had previous experience working in schools with SEN children, or perhaps you don’t; we welcome applications from people of all professional backgrounds – personal qualities of compassion, and initiative are what we look for.

What you’ll be doing in the role:

• Building strong, nurturing relationships with the learners based on trust and understanding
• Providing support to the Teacher during lessons and planned activities, by following their instructions but using your own initiative when necessary
• Demonstrating excellent communication skills that will allow learners to achieve their full potential experience the joy of learning
• Working closely with the learners in small group settings or an a 1:1 basis, providing good guidance and encouragement
• Managing classroom behaviour, challenging and unpredictable behaviour in a calm and effective manner
• Offering support with feeding and personal care as and when required

Essential requirements for this role:

• A valid Enhanced child-only DBS certificate, or willingness to acquire one (we can help you obtain you with this)
• Level 2 Safeguarding Certificate (we can provide you with this)
• Registration to the Education Workforce Council (we can help you obtain you with this)
• 2x professional references

During your time as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Teaching Personnel will provide you with an experienced and dedicated consultant to guide you through the application and vetting process, as well as offering any support needed during your time in the school.
