Job Title: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Phonics Teaching Assistant

As a Phonics Intervention Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering reading interventions to pupils on a 1:1/paired/small group basis
• Managing the delivery of the Read, Write Inc Fresh Start phonics programme
• Handling an identified caseload of pupils with identified low reading ages
• Taking responsibility for pupils’ reading development
• Ensuring the academy has a suitable range of accessible books for pupils with different reading ages
• Identifying and delivering other suitable reading interventions
• Identifying effective interventions, costing and resourcing them
• Supporting staff with phonics Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
• Identifying opportunities for staff to include reading opportunities
• Encouraging a love of reading for all students
• Contributing to baseline assessments for reading age tests using academy packages such as Lexplore or NGRT testing
• Developing recording systems for evidencing your intervention sessions
• Contributing to the reporting of the progress made by your pupils

Requirements:

• Hold a Teaching Assistant Qualification.
• Have SEN experience.
• Have eligibility to work in the UK.
• Have applicable references on request.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one.
