Learning Support Assistant (SEMH)

Remedy is currently seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team. This position involves supporting a student in need of social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) support throughout the academic year. Responsibilities:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

• Demonstrate a genuine passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning, particularly those with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
• Utilize creative thinking to make learning exciting and relevant for the student.
• Possess excellent communication skills to engage with parents and attend professional meetings as necessary.
• Work one-on-one, within small groups, or as part of the wider class to support the student in interacting with their peers.
• Collaborate closely with the teachers and SENCo to ensure the student’s academic needs, especially those requiring greater depth of understanding, are met.
• Supervise the student during break and lunch times.
• Have good basic English and Maths skills.
• Show willingness to learn and develop in the role.

Requirements:

• Experience in a similar role or a genuine desire to work with students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with parents, colleagues, and professionals.
• A positive and proactive attitude towards learning and personal development.
• The ability to adapt to different learning styles and employ creative strategies.
• Basic knowledge of English and Maths to support the student’s educational progress.
