If so, you might be the perfect candidate for the role of Family Support Officer at our SEN school.

As a Family Support Officer, you will work closely with the SENCO, teachers, parents and external agencies to provide holistic and personalised support for our pupils and their families. You will be responsible for:

• Assessing the needs and strengths of pupils and their families and developing effective support plans
• Providing advice, guidance and advocacy on a range of issues, such as education, health, social care, benefits and housing
• Liaising and collaborating with other professionals and organisations to ensure coordinated and consistent support
• Organising and facilitating workshops, groups and events to promote parental engagement and empowerment
• Monitoring and evaluating the impact and outcomes of the support provided and reporting to the SENCO and senior leadership team

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A relevant qualification in education, social work, counselling or a related field
• Experience of working with children and young people with SEN in a school or a similar setting
• Knowledge and understanding of the SEN Code of Practice, the Education, Health and Care Plan process and the local offer
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
• A positive, flexible and proactive approach to problem-solving
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

The school is based in LS9, Leeds and offers a stimulating and nurturing learning environment for pupils aged 4 to 16 with a range of SEN, such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia and speech and language difficulties.
