SEMH PE Instructor – Harrogate

Engage Education are currently working with a specialist provision based in Harrogate who are requiring someone who has a background in delivering and supporting physical education.

This provision caters for young people who have social, emotional and mental health issues and often they can show challenging behaviours and so you will need to use a range of behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies.

This role is full-time and to start ASAP (pending background checks).

The Role:

• Delivering physical education to secondary-aged students with a range of additional needs.
• Adapting to the individual needs of children within curriculum planning and lesson delivery.
• Promoting positive behaviour through strong respectful relationships, consistent expectations and engaging activities.
• Work within and contribute to the school community;
• Have a commitment to an integrated, therapeutic & restorative approach and ethos;
• Be very flexible and adapt quickly to change;
• Be positive, be solution focused and support others to do the same;
• Work within the culture and values of the school and promote these

Requirements:

• Experience working with people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviours is essential

• Experience within a SEN education setting is essential

• Experience with planning and delivering PE lessons is essential

• Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service (or be willing to take one out)
