Learning Support Mentor Full Time

Reed Education are supporting a fantastic school who are looking for an outstanding Learning Support Mentor to join their team, working primarily with their students with SEND, helping them to access the curriculum and wider school activities. You will be supporting young people to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will ocassionally be required to work with students with complex needs, which school will provide additional training for if required.

Key Tasks

• To promote the progress of students on the SEND Register by supporting them in class or in small groups.
• To support teachers in their work with students with SEND by keeping them updated on issues relating to the needs of students in their classes.
• To act as an academic mentor to students with SEND assigned to them by the SENCo.
• To support students who have an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP).

About You:

• A flexible attitude to react to different situations throughout the school day and the ability to use your own initiative within the learning environment.
• Experience of working calmly under pressure
• The ability to communicate effectively with anyone, especially young people, and work effectively both on your own and within a team
• Maths and English GCSE Grade 4 or above (or equivalent).
• NVQ 2 or Equivalent
• Full Driving licence and access to a car (the school is tricky to get to on public transport)
• Be Computer literate with good orgasnisation and interpersonal skills
• A DBS on the update service (or willing to gain one) and have be able to promote the welfare of children (up to date safeguarding knowledge)
