Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

LSA – Full-Time, September 2023- Mainstream Primary School, Watford – One to one role with Year 4 student with Autism – £90 per day

Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of students with special educational needs? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dedicated team as a Learning Support Assistant at a mainstream primary school located in Watford.

Role Overview: As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with a Year 4 student who has Autism and other communication difficulties. This student has made excellent progress during their time at our school, and your role will be vital in providing additional support and ensuring their continued success. This is a full-time position starting in September, with the potential to become permanent in the future.

Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one support to the Year 4 student with Autism and communication difficulties.
• Assist the student in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities.
• Implement strategies and interventions to support the student’s individual needs and learning goals.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for the student.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and other professionals to ensure consistent support and progress monitoring.
• Help with the student’s social and emotional development, promoting their overall well-being.

LSA Person Specification: The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following qualifications, skills, and attributes:

• Previous experience working with students with special educational needs, particularly Autism and communication difficulties.
• Strong understanding of the specific needs and challenges faced by students with Autism.
• Ability to build rapport and establish effective relationships with students, parents, and staff.
• Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to support the student’s development.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the student.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and willingness to attend training sessions as required.
