We are looking for committed and reliable individuals who are ready to take on a new and exciting role for the academic year, within a classroom setting. You will be responsible for supporting students throughout secondary schools within South Gloucestershire, who need support in their everyday lives at school due to learning difficulties.
You will be supporting students who could be studying subjects from across the curriculum so having a good general understanding of this is important! We are looking for someone who is flexible and ideally has experience supporting young people with moderate learning difficulties.
As a Learning Support Assistant you will be required to do the following and more (depending on the needs of the student):
- Provide support to students in group based sessions under the direction of the teacher
- Develop learner’s English and Maths skills
- Have the ability to keep students on task and engaged
- Promote independent learning with your students
- Work within the policies and procedures of the school, in partnership with other staff and teams
Requirements:
- Level 2 or equivalent in Maths and English
- Maintain a professional and confidential approach at all times
- A Desire to support and help students to reach their full potential
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to work as part of a team.
- The means to get to local schools for early starts (typically 8:30am starts)
- Eligibility to work in the UK (no sponsorship provided)
- Ability to use your own initiative in challenging situations
- Be an empathetic person who can understand the needs of others
