Have you worked as an operational prison custody officer in a prison or in a detention centre ? Do you have immigration experience ? Do you have teaching or assessing experience ? Our client is one of the largest providers of apprenticeships and work based learning in the Northwest. We are looking to recruit a Custody and Detention Officer Learning Coach to work across the education standards our client deliver. The successful applicant will deliver the Learning and Skills Teacher Standard Level 3 to custody and detention officers who work in prison education and other educational establishments.

We are looking for someone who has experience in education and has a real passion for supporting and developing their learners. You will need to be driven, organised and dedicated to managing a busy and demanding workload. You will support apprentices to develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours that are required to be demonstrated within the apprenticeship.

The successful applicant must be flexible, confident and an excellent communicator. Due to the nature of the business you will be required to have a flexible and adaptable approach.

This post is offered on a permanent basis, working 37 hours per week, however consideration will be given to any part time applications. Due to the nature of this post you must be willing to travel to various locations Nationally and be able to stay overnight when the need to arises.

Delivery of this Apprenticeship Standard encompasses classroom delivery, coaching and observation of practice. In addition to classroom learning the Learning Coach will also be responsible for delivering one-to-one coaching, remote and face to face assessment including observations of practice.

Although often working remotely you will become an integral part of the wider Education Cluster. Our client have a team of dedicated colleagues on hand to support you and you will be provided with all the equipment to enable you to work remotely.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain a caseload of learners as agreed with your line manager and carry out regular learner interventions where required
• Engage the learner’s line manager, making clear their responsibilities and working collaboratively to provide support, guidance and opportunities for learning
• Plan the end point assessment process with learners and employers, ensuring preparation and practice is included in the learning plan
• Inspire and motivate learners as well as identify any barriers to learning
• Ensure marking and feedback to the learner is accurate and supports their development
