Job Title: Horticulture Lecturer / Land Based Studies Lecturer

Location: Syon Manor College, Isleworth, Greater London

Salary: Qualified – From £36,000 per annum depending on experience and qualifications

• Starting from £28,000 (Unqualified Teacher/Instructor)
• Starting from £32,000 (ECT)
• Starting from £36,000 per annum (Qualified Teachers)

Hours: 38.5 Hours per week; Monday to Friday 8:30 to 16:30

Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

Are you an Horticulture Lecturer / Land Based Studies Lecturer committed to improving the lives of pupils and young people with a passion in this field of employment?

Syon Manor College are looking for an experienced passionate Lecturer. The successful candidate will join an up-and-coming team of like-minded professionals within a new Specialist Post 16- Further Education setting. Ideally, you would have experience working with learners in a post-16 setting and have an ethos centred around care and development.

The post requires a qualification in a related field or experience within the trade of work and experience within Education – QTLS route + ECT’s are encouraged to apply.

Purpose of Job

• To prepare, deliver and assess an appropriate, broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated Horticulture/land Based Studies curriculum.
• To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students
• To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential
• To contribute to maximising standards of student attainment
• To share and support the Colleges’ responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth
• To participate in marketing and promotion activities to support the range of programmes and learning opportunities

Essential

• Relevant degree level 5 qualification or willingness to achieve.
• GSCE Maths and English (grades A – C) or equivalent
• Relevant Masters Qualification in Agriculture
• Driving License and willing to commute to landsite.

Desirable

• Relevant Masters Qualification in Agriculture
• Certified in Education/PGCE or equivalent
• Safeguarding Training
• Equality and diversity training
• Functional Skills
• ECDL or ITQ Level 2 or equivalent

Candidate must have a Driving License as role will require transfer between sites.

Syon Manor College is a new post-16 provision for young people with autism and complex needs. The college will offer a broad curriculum of academic, vocational and life skills learning including BTECs, GCSEs, Functional Skills and ASDAN accreditations which will work towards Employability or Independence and Duke of Edinburgh qualifications.
