We are looking for a talented General Manager to lead a dedicated passionate team at a wonderful Independent Schools. A day and boarding co-educational school for pupils from year 3 to 6th form in Ashtead Park, Surrey. Catering for 1000 students and teachers daily. We offer a core feeding of Breakfast, lunch, supper, tuckshop twice daily, 6th form café, internal and external hospitality. This is a mix of term time only, term time plus 4 weeks and 52 week depending on role and operates 7 days a week. Additional benefit to this location is free parking on site.

You will have previous experience of working within a fast-paced management catering environment.

Responsibilities:

To assist in the process of change in the departments though setting standards and motivating staff to deliver them.
To liaise with pupils and client via customer interaction and relevant member forums to make sure there requirements are met at all times.
To develop each area of the catering offer in line with client expectations/budgetary constraints and agreed offer development plans.
To be responsible for the day-to-day operations of all catering facilities throughout the year working in line with the requirements of the business.
To develop and implement the pupils and staff dining and hospitality facilities across the site ensuring the quality of food and level of customer service, presentation of the dining and service areas etc are maintained to the agreed standards.
To provide excellent food and customer service and respond quickly and proactively to customers needs
To develop the food offer in line with current market trends and to the standards outlined in the Thomas Franks company values
To ensure age appropriate food is available in all locations throughout the dining period ensuring all special dietary requirements of pupils are adhered to at all times.
Ensure compliance with all Thomas Franks Food & Beverage policies, standards and procedures by training, supervising, follow-up and hands on management
To undertake any reasonable duties that may be required relating to the effective operation and development of commercial areas as directed by the Operations Manager
In depth working knowledge of the core values and ethos of the school
Proven ability to communicate with clients and deliver agreed objectives and goals

You will oversee the successful running of all catering requirements across the operation which includes providing breakfast, lunch and supper to pupils and teachers across a large number of boarding houses as well as providing high profile lets, hospitality and events.

Key responsibilities:

To work well and manage a large team across a number of buildings
Overseeing breakfast, lunch service, supper, hospitality and events
Keeping the menu fresh and innovative for International Boarders with pop ups on a weekend and special themed menus on an evening
Completing company bookwork
Ensuring company food standards are adhered to and wastage controlled.
Ensuring all Food Hygiene and Health & Safety policies and allergen control procedures are followed.

You will have the following skills:

Excellent client relationship skills
An all-round team player and leader
An organised Manager with attention to detail
Sound financial understanding
Multi Location Management – a current group manager
Experience within independent education contract catering (if you have hotel experience as well then that’s even better!)
Up to £60,000 per annum
Working 5 days out of 7 days however you manage your diary according to business needs
28 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays) (52 week operation)
