Weston College is looking for a Lecturer in Foundation Learning to join the team working within the Faculty of Inclusive Practice to develop, supervise and deliver high quality teaching, learning and assessment at Entry level that are highly personalised and engage students with SEND and barriers to learning.Foundation Learning delivers a wide range of inspiring, innovative and high-quality individualised programmes for students who have previously had difficulties in engaging with education and have experienced a whole range of barriers to their learning.The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a course/pathway and delivering a range of subjects including; Vocational Options, Personal and Social Development, Independent Living, Employability and Functional skills in either maths and/or English.JOB CONTEXT Foundation Learning delivers a wide range of inspiring, innovative and highquality individualised programmes for students who have previously had difficulties in engaging with education and have experienced a whole range of barriers to their learning. Students have a diverse range of barriers that include; severe, profound and complex learning difficulties (PCLD), moderate or specific learning difficulties, social, emotional and mental health difficulties and/or physical/sensory impairment. Students often have had a previous history of failure and/or negative experiences of education. The area prides itself on providing young people with SEND the attitude, commitment, resilience and determination they need to succeed in transitioning into work and/or adult life. Staff are highly trained and well qualified and provide ambitious programmes of study that empower students to overcome their barriers and achieve sustainable aspirations. Once a student is fully engaged their programme will be adapted and differentiated by level and vocational focus. Each student negotiates a personalised timetable incorporating their learning goals and with their personal tutor in order to achieve success. JOB PURPOSE The person appointed will join a team of people working within the Faculty of Inclusive Practice to develop, supervise and deliver high quality teaching, learning and assessment at Entry Level that are highly personalised and engage students with SEND and barriers to learning. The person appointed will be responsible for leading a course/pathway and delivering a range of subjects including; Vocational Options, Personal and Social Development, Independent Living, Employability and Functional skills in either maths and/or English. KEY DUTIES AND TASKS The person appointed will be responsible to the area Manager, Strategic Lead for Foundation Learning and ultimately to the Head of Faculty, for the following: • Tutorship of students, coordinating their individualised programme of study ensuring high attendance and retention as well as positive progression and outcomes; PUBLIC – WC_HR_303 JOB DESCRIPTION • Plan and review individual study programmes ensuring all aspects of provision and support specified within a student’s Education Health and Care Plan is in place and the progress is effectively tracked and monitored; • Develop and deliver high quality innovative teaching, learning and assessment on a range of Pre-vocational Entry Level programmes; • Implement and evidence the achievement of students against the RAPPRA framework for all non-accredited learning; • Proactively track and record student progress to ensure accurate data is accessible and provide monthly reports to the Curriculum, ensuring achievement and success is predicted; • Share good practice with the Foundation Learning Team. This may also include the delivery of SEND CPD activities and training programmes; • Mentor and line manage Foundation Learning specialist practitioners, ensuring best practice is proactively shared and enables personal professional development; • Work collaboratively with staff across the college to ensure seamless transitions into higher level courses, training or employment; • To proactively liaise with parents, social services departments, cross college tutors, Education, Health and Care Plan coordinators and other relevant agencies to ensure student needs are met and progression opportunities are maximised; • Actively be involved in the reviewing and developing internal assessment process and procedures, including tutorial/target setting, through the interval moderation process; • Work in partnership with Employers and other relevant organisations to ensure the workplace is accessible for Foundation Learning students; • Organise and participate in Residential activities with students; • Effectively promote Foundation Learning in all faculties of the College and Community;
