English Language is at the heart of School 21, an innovative school for 4 to 18 year olds. This is your chance to join a brilliant team of teachers who think deeply about their craft and who shape a curriculum that brings alive the finest literature and the most powerful ideas. We help young people develop as writers, exploring creativity, discernment and precision. We are looking for an experienced GCSE and/or A-level English teacher who will bring English alive for all students and who inspires children to read great literature. You will facilitate rich and challenging projects that allow students to combine detailed knowledge with a range of 21st century skills and attributes.
There is potential to take on a TLR leading Key Stage 5.
This work would focus on supporting the team of English teachers through continual evaluation and development of the curriculum. The key stage coordinator redrafts and develops units of work, gives feedback on shared planning and monitors and analyses data. They take an active part in and sometimes lead departmental professional learning.
Since we opened in 2012 we have put teaching and learning at the heart of everything we do. We have developed a unique approach to oracy including setting up a charity, Voice 21 () which is already working with several hundred schools. We have also pioneered real world, interdisciplinary learning in collaboration with a network of extraordinary organisations: creative, artistic, high tech, professional.
